mp3 Demo

Have mp3's finally eclipsed the cd-r as promotional tool for independant musicians? After a successful string of gigs gained by online networking, I was beginning to think so.  But was supprised to find one promoter claim that the mp3 was of lower quality than the cd, and could therefore, not be worthy of radio airplay (on a pirate station). My understanding is that most major radio stations have data-bases of music in mp3 format that they cue up, but college and lowpower stations still use the older cd format.

Podcasting 101

Here is a little techno noodling for your ears. I am trying to test out the negativeland style phone to home stereo adapter with audioblogger. The quality seems pretty good. Hopefully when I republish the page the image loading and and mp3 download will be more reliable. I also want to test the page with ipodder to find out if it is podcast worthy. Deeplinking could be another issue worth testing. And whether or not my friends think its cool?

Live performance review

link to the nitewise calendar

We got a cool review for this sunday's show on the venerable sf info list nitewise:

Electro-Acoustic downtempo This weekly music night of live electronica and dj's while sipping on that latte or cappucino gives new edge to the inner sunsets lack of chilled nightlife. Collective notion have been combining there idea of art installations, live music and a lively crowd for nearly a year or so now. A more IDM sound, with a personal touch can be heard in the music, electronically organic could be a way of describing it. Always interesting though, it saves you making the trek into the city for some ear candy. (DS)

This image is from the cypod vj set, I think it went quite well

If only everyone was into listen electronic music, on the way home I got jacked. Just off bart in East Oakland five guys jumped out of a car and went after me. They bloodied me up a little (I'm typing this up with a sprained hand), but all they got was a skateboard and my left shoe.

Dim Sum 2 Party Pix

San Francisco Hipsters move and grove to electronic and acoustic
stylings of local musicians and video artists as part two of the dim
sum monthly produced by daily city records. Now in its second of a
five month show bill, the scene has moved from china town to the
tenderloft. The drum machine museum seems like a perfect venue for
this this type of an event, with its mix of club style beats and home
grown influences. The social crowd moved to the electronic tracks
swirling about in social spirals, and at times affectionate rapture.
Got something better to do saturday night? Not if its a night out your
after. See you next month.
